Description of Workshop
Using the substation as a subject for this workshop, we will explore various methods of capturing textures and characteristics of place on paper – including frottage, collagraph and collage.
Participants can choose to work with internal, external or a combination of both as subject in their response to create a sense of place artwork or series. The methods and processes explored can be applied to any place of choice at a later date.
A variety of luscious paper surfaces and/or tactile collagraph plates will be created to select from in making a small journal or layered work. Time will be allocated during the workshop for printing from plates made, discussion of compositions and potential formats for developing works, along with experimentation with layering of techniques, materials and embellished papers.
