Make a collection of  Waxed Paper Bowls - Jennifer Long

Make  gorgeous paper and waxed bowls from a variety of papers – torn, patterned, textured, plain, printed and hand drawn.
​Up cycle old prints into these beautiful objects.  

Workshop Schedule

• Introduction and discussion of materials (drawing, printing, transfer images onto ricepaper)
• Discussing a theme, sizes, variations
• Preparing the mold, glue and materials
• Creating the rice paper bowl/s
• After allowing time for bowls to dry, remove from mold and dip the bowls in wax. Let them cool and harden.

LUNCH 
​
Tea and coffee are provided but you need to bring some morning tea and lunch. Workshop participants often choose to eat lunch together in the kitchen.
​Alternatively, the hotel next door has a good lunch menu. There is also a fish and chip shop down the road.

• Brushes, hobby knife, waterproof pens (Impress will have some also)

About the tutor

Brisbane visual artist Jennifer Long sources and collects a wide range of imagery from family history, current events, the landscape and found objects. She explores a range of mark making through mediums of paint, etching, drawing, collage and 3D objects to express disparate and evocative ideas.
She has studied Fine Art in a BA degree from University of Queensland and has an array of art skills from ceramics, painting and life drawing developed at Queensland College of Art, Brisbane Institute of Art and varied workshops in print and lithography at the Lancaster and Impress Studios. She has pursued etching for the past 6 years at the Brisbane Institute of Art and received a number of art awards with her work in corporate and private collections.
She has been represented by the Charles Ginn Gallery and Bosz Gallery, Brisbane. Her website www.jenniferlong.net showcases her art as does her artist’s page on Facebook and an Etsy site JenniferLongArt.
Jennifer exhibits yearly in solo and group exhibitions, working daily in her studio and is available for commissions and workshops.

Safety

​​Participants are advised to wear closed in shoes, suitable clothing or apron that you do not mind getting ink on. Tie long hair back, wear goggles, masks where appropriate. Follow all instructions given by your tutor during your workshop.  Particpants need to be aware of saftey for themselves especially while using the hot wax involved in making waxed paper bowls.
