$240 Members / $260. Non members Code: SPCC15
DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP
Explore traditional and alternative mark making tools and print techniques in this hands-on workshop. Using inexpensive, readily available materials and sustainable and re-purposed supplies, new directions of the contemporary hand printed matrix will be introduced with an emphasis on physical texture. We will examine both constructive and reductive processes in the development of topographic approaches to relief and intaglio printmaking techniques using recycled fibre board and plywood plates. Students will use both traditional and non-traditional techniques for the inscription of marks upon MDF and plywood matrices including carving, grinding, stamping, hammering, burning, collaging, gluing and varnishing. Inking procedures, plate and paper handling, and press operation will be covered.
