what is printmaking?
Printmaking is a means of producing multiple images, each of these is called a print. Prints are created from a single original surface, known technically as a matrix or a plate. Prints are multipliable, usually produced in limited editions and therefore sought after and collectable. The process of designing and producing prints using a printing block, such as a woodcut, linocut, engraving, etching, collograph, lithographic stone or plate or silkscreen is called printmaking.
what is an open access studio?
An open access studio is a place for experienced artist/printmakers to book (access) facilities in order to create and produce prints, using the various professional printmaking equipment and processes available to print their own artwork.
When can i access the studio?
The Open Access Print Studio sessions can be booked after completion of an Impress Studio Induction by anyone with prior experience of the printmaking technique they would like to use.
How long can i be in the studio & what is the cost?
Select the Press or Equipment you wish to reserve from the drop-down menu. Select Session Times - Cost is $20 per session
Session 1- 7:00am - 12:00 - 5 hours
Session 2 -12:00 - 5:00pm - 5 hours
Session 3 -5:00pm - 10pm - 5 hours
Use of Studio Ink $5.00 or you can bring your own inks

do i need to pay for paper?
Yes, you need to bring your own paper to print on, or you may buy some from our shop. Fill out the invoice at the studio (in the kitchen) and pay online by direct deposit.
what does my $20 cover
By paying your studio booking fee, you can use and have access to equipment such as rollers, clean up materials, rags, scrapers and printing presses. A portion of this also goes toward electricity, water and maintenance of the studio.
