SOLARPLATE PRINTING
with Kristina Hall

Sunday 20th July 10am-4pm

Impress members $85, non-members $100 including materials

The technique of creating prints using sun exposure can be a relatively simple process, easily done at home or in a studio environment and offers participants an alternative non-toxic process to create intaglio and relief prints. Students will learn how to make an exposure frame as well as creating solarplate prints using various mediums. Mediums and techniques explored during the workshop are touche on acetate, photocopies, adding colour to plates using a monoprinting technique, photographs, embossing techniques and collage. When working with photographs students will learn to recognise and select suitable images according to contrast details. At the end of the workshop students will have 2-4 prints showing experimentation with intaglio and relief techniques using solarplate that has been exposed to the sun. Notes will be provided for participants on printmaking with solarplate. If weather is unfavourable an exposure unit will be available.
