SCREENPRINTING
with Jenny Sanzaro-Nishimura

Sunday 24th February & 2nd March 10am-4pm

Impress members $170, non-members $200 including materials

This workshop is intended to bring new dimensions, creative thinking, using autographic, photographic, digital and found objects as sources of inspiration for screenprinting. The aim of this workshop is to create a set of images from 2 dimensional sources; source material could be thin found objects (e.g. leaves, feathers, thin fabric, lace etc- nothing sharp), or autographic marks drawn or painted onto drafting film with graphite (4-6B) block out pen, black or red permanent marker, opaque paints, water colour, Indian ink or black crayon/litho pencil; photos or digital images photocopied onto acetate film. This method is also great for screenprinting hard-ground onto etching plates, for text and photographic images.

Jenny Sanzaro-Nishimura studied Fine Art (majoring in printmaking) at QCA, graduating with honours in 1996; followed by a Grad Certificate in Higher Education in 2006. Jenny was selected for the Fremantle Print prize and awarded the Artist-in-Residency at Manila studios in the Philippines in 1997 where she ran numerous workshops, culminating in a travelling exhibition. Jenny has taught art in a variety of disciplines since 1998 at Griffith and the University of the Sunshine Coast. In 2001 she left to work in Japan and on her return was offered a position at QCA in printmaking where she has worked to the present day.
