Printing with gelatin plates is fun, easy and contagious!
It is a playful and creative process. In this one day workshop we will play with found and organic shapes and objects to produce a series of one-off prints (called monotype).
You will learn how to take both a planned and spontaneous approach to this printing method. We will print onto cartridge and printmaking paper, and have a play with printing onto fabric and other surfaces.

About The Tutor
Kim Herringe lives in Maleny and is passionate about 2 things … printmaking and teaching. She has been growing and developing her printmaking arts practice over the past 7 years following a commercial career as a graphic designer/marketing professional. An active member of the Maleny Printmakers, she is best known for her complex reductive lino prints and expression of “I could print that!”. She takes inspiration from her natural environment, and this flows through in to the materials and subject matter she teaches with.

Morning
Introduction, examples of what can be achieved and demonstrations

Afternoon
Play and print with a planned approach
using a registration board, printing onto both paper and fabric

All Materials will be supplied by Tutor
Students are welcome to bring along any plant material that has interesting shape or form as long as it soft. Students may wish to also bring any acrylic paint they prefer to work with.

Safety
​​Participants are advised to wear closed in shoes, suitable clothing or apron that you do not mind getting ink on. Tie long hair back, wear goggles, masks where appropriate. Follow all instructions given by your tutor during your workshop.  Participants need to be aware of safety for themselves especially while using the hot wax involved in making waxed paper bowls.Payment and Booking
