As a symbol of longevity, peace and happiness the crane has now also become a conservation symbol. Extinction threatens in both Australia and Japan due to wetlands degradation and biologists are jointly working to preserve the species. My work is inspired by Japanese aesthetics.

The Wedding Party, 2005
Intaglio etching, 30 cms diameter
$250 (framed) $125 (unframed)

Etching resulted from sketches made during a recent trip to Japan during the sakura (cherry blossom) season - a time for weddings, traditional costumes and a revival of ancient customs.
